Understanding The Needs And Capacities Of Tomorrow’s Leaders

Leadership is the capability to inspire assurance and support among people in a group that need to use competence and loyalty in order to perform some task. A leader is someone who can positively influence a group toward the achievement of certain goals. Obviously, having effective leaders in any organization or group is key to the success of that group. When defining a leader, there are several ways to look at them and why they seem to take the crucial role of leader so well ( Psychologycampus, n.a.). Within an organization, leader's capacity to craft environment is essential to continuous accomplishment. One of challenging key of success in an organization is to cultivate individual's ability to growth and having more responsibility; detecting potential leader and assist them to be prepared to leadership.

Now, more than ever, leaders should assume an increasing mass of the responsibility for performance and development. A new leader, can sometimes privilege getting tasks done by inspiring confidence and support. However, this may let the situation uncontrollable. He needs power to control and change his follower's behavior as defined by Vecchio (2006:391). The effective manager is one who succeeds in building and maintaining high levels of both position and personal power over time. He should also be able to delegate tasks without losing the control. Power and influence inevitably lead to the subject of “politics.” This word may invoke thoughts of illegitimate deals, favors, and special personal relationships. However, it can serve a number of important functions in his new responsibilities, including overcoming personnel inadequacies, coping with change, and substituting for formal authority ( Schermerhorn, Hunt & Osborn 2002:184).
