Turkish culture is a somewhat traditional culture that values the past, and relies on strong relationships with their business partners. The country closes a deal with a handshake and hold true to their word, when they are impressed with you if they will treat you as family. It is a quite impressive culture and a great country to do business in. The following entries are cultural findings that have compiled from numerous journals and internet sites.

Study Results: The GLOBE study is a grouping of cultural values, practices, and leadership attributes from managers in many countries. The Dimensions of this study are as followed: Assertiveness, Future Orientation, Performance Orientation, and Humane Orientation. In terms of assertiveness, Turkey ranks in the middle. They like a comfortable work environment and enjoy harmony, but they also have a “can do” attitude. Since most of the citizens are Muslims, this would explain why they enjoy the calm environment and enjoy peace. Yet, commerce is a large part of the country, they still are driven workers. Performance orientation ranks in the lower to middle sector. Since they do have a very Muslim orientation they believe that things are just laid out in life, and you must adapt to your surroundings. Since they do follow this mindset things may not be as planned out or future orientated as some countries. This affects the future orientation as well. The Turks are also very humane, they are very caring and fair individuals. But since they have a strong history and are very true to their religion they have a strong since of respect to their leaders (1).
