Abstract

While technology certainly can speed up transactions and offer customers the convenience of doing business 24 hours a day from anywhere in the world, it is one’s employees who provide the customer service that differentiates a company from its competitors and has a positive impact on the bottom line. The key to providing superior customer service is having well-trained employees. In addition, increased competition, largely due to technological advances and a global economy, highlight the importance of training the employees to keep them running smoothly and performing at high levels. Modern organizations therefore use their resources (money, time, energy, information, etc.) for permanent training and advancement of their employees.

The aim of this paper is to illustrate the significance of training employees in the organization according to renowned references and comparing them to the training systems at GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals and Security & Safety Solutions organization. It is essential to highlight the factors that influence training in an organization. Then the paper will discuss when is the training needed in an organization and why is it performed. A clear idea of what are the numerous training methods will then be highlighted. The paper then checks the importance of evaluating the training program and how it is done. Finally, the paper tries to compare the different training systems followed at GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals and Security & Safety Solutions organization.
