The Matrix

Swallow The Red Pill

The movie I’m choosing to write about is The Matrix.  I picked this movie because it completely represents the patience and diligence required to recognize one’s full potential as a leader (or human).  That being said, many of my responses go a bit deeper than the question asks.

In the movie The Matrix, the leader, or, “The One”, is Neo.  Neo’s human name is Thomas Anderson.  At the beginning of the movie, Thomas is one amongst billions of humans whose brains are connected to the matrix.  The matrix is what the humans perceive as life in the 21st century.  He became a leader because he could sense something was not right within his world; but he didn’t become a leader right away.  This sense that “something more must be out there” brought him into contact with a man named Morpheous, an observer from the outside.

Neo doesn’t fulfill the function of a leader at all at first.  There are many times in fact, where he shows weakness.  For example, when the Oracle tells him that he is not “The One”, Neo is saddened and upset.  The Oracle does this on purpose though.  She knows that Neo and Neo alone must discover the greatness within himself, and nothing she could possibly say could make any difference to that fact.

Towards the end of the movie, his awareness is his greatest asset.  He was finally aware of what he was capable of doing.  He transcended the self-limiting beliefs that were characteristics of his human friends in The Matrix.  He realized that these beliefs were really just projections of his own mind.  He eventually was able to stop bullets in mid-air and fly off buildings.  With his great awareness came unlimited possibility.&nbs ...
