With fuel prices constantly on the rise it has come to Volkswagen South Africa’s attention that more and more people are looking for vehicles with better fuel consumption yet still practical and not over priced.
As our customers are always our number one priority Volkswagen gathered a team of highly qualified engineers to see what they can come up with.

These were the six points given to work with and after days of debating, months of careful planning and an uncountable amount of tests.
They revealed something that South African motorists have been waiting for, a car that is affordable yet safe, a car that is powerful yet fuel efficient, a car that is so comfortable and stylish you’d never want to leave the drivers seat. They revealed the VW Cidi golf.

With the 51KW 1.4 litre turbocharged diesel motor previously used in the Polo they managed to keep manufacturing costs down by a huge margin and therefore the price of the car could be kept ridiculously low.
Putting it in the much lighter body of the Citi golf they managed to get fuel consumption down to an astonishing 4L/100km which gives us an estimated 1200km out of the 49L tank.

For safety they added four airbags (driver, passenger and side impact) and ABS to protect our clients from the rising death rate on our roads due to accidents.
 
They then looked at comfort and with the extra power they added in an air conditioner and full leather interior with digital clocks and a Carbon fibre finished off dashboard. Electric win ...
