The Development Of The Chinese Outbound Tourism Since 1995

Over the last 12 years China’s outgoing tourism continued to maintain a fast growing situation. The number of Chinese outbound travellers greatly expanded within this period of time. Due to governmental improvements of principles and policies this development was put forward. Other determinants like the economic boom in China and cooperation between China and countries all over the world (considering especially entry visa) also played a key and guiding role in that change and will be explained closer in this paper.  

Along with this development come great opportunities for worldwide tourism destinations. The tourism industry is already one of the biggest industries in the world. For destinations such as Europe and North America this new target group, considering that Chinese travellers are coming in millions, contains big potential.

On the contrary destinations now have to face a range of new challenges, which the growing numbers of Chinese tourists a bringing along. On the one hand it emerges, that especially non-Asian countries need to develop a different kind of service that is custom-tailored for Chinese travellers and on the other hand the great expand also puts pressure on the tourism supply and tourist infrastructures within the destinations.

The following paper shall discuss the change in Chinese outbound tourism.  

In the first paragraph the recent development is displayed with statistics. Afterwards specific reasons will underline why this development took place in the tourism sector.
