1. How have you or others been a tempered radical in the workplace? Where did these actions fall on the spectrum of Tempered Change Strategies? What were some of the challenges you (or they) faced?
I have employed or acted on both variable-term opportunism and verbal jujitsu. I am responsible for the shipping and receiving department of our warehouse. Special purchases called contracts are routinely received at our location. It is imperative these receipts are reported to Voucher Exam (VE), the office responsible for paying the vendor, as soon as possible. A specific form called a Receiving Report is used to communicate this receipt to VE. While this is the only required form I felt it was necessary to further clarify which items had been received. I decided to include a copy of the Packing Slip from each package received with the Receiving Report. I thought this was more for my own tracking purposes than anything else. I was very surprised and delighted to receive an email one day from the person who handles these accounts. She thanked me profusely for initiating this practice and further told me how many of the invoices she receives from vendors actually mirror the packing slips they send out. It was much easier for her to identify which items she should pay. To top it off she included her superiors as well as mine on the email to insure they were aware of my extra effort.
