Business to Business in the realm of E-Business are essentially companies who are buying and selling from each other. As time has passed this is now more prevalent as companies are outsourcing their needs. The digital economy has “forever transformed the role of supply chain management” according to skillsoft.com, and as such it now works as Different partners pick up on the needs and fulfill the requirements of the business, hence the development of the supply chain.
The term EDI stands for electronic data interchange. Therefore, if the business is already using EDI then they are already participating in b2b E-business. However EDI does have limitations. If the company that a business is using also uses the language EDI understands, then there is no problem. If the company uses a different language, then this creates a problem. Transactions in EDI need to be fairly simple. Most of the companies now use XML as a standard language, which is a standard rule for describing web content.
The supply chain involves all transactions in B2B from start to finish. From the point in which the product leaves the business supplier to the point which the product arrives to the business to be prepared for sale to the consumer is all depending on the stability of the supply chain. For example, if a business sets up a website to sell belt buckles, everything needs to be evaluated from the suppliers of the parts to make the buckles, to the company which is used to assemble the buckles, to the distributing company that ships the buckles to the storage facility.
