The problem that faces them currently is that they have an order from Midland Motors that exceeds their current capabilities. Through the benchmarking process Kuiper Leda can determine the methods which they can implement that will provide the ability and stability in their supply chain so consumer needs will be met and maintained as growth continues.
Best Practices in Supply Chain Management
          Through benchmarking two companies that have shown how best practices in supply chain management have been successful for them, Kuiper Leda can benefit as well. Kuiper Leda has been struggling with constant, large-scale growth and how to keep up with this growth in regards to their supply chain. Through a closer look at two of the top companies in terms of quality inventory systems, Kuiper Leda has a great chance to improve its own inventory system. These companies are Wal-Mart and Amazon.com Inc. Each of these organizations has been successful by developing state of the art inventory updating systems. Wal-Mart has begun communicating with its suppliers in order to develop a system that allows each store to “talk” to the supplier warehouse in order to send needed inventory quickly. Amazon.com on the other hand has improved its inventory using software allowing them to update their inventory much quicker and much more often. Kuiper Leda can learn from other companies like Wal-Mart and Amazon.com in order to find a better way to improve its own inventory systems and thus its entire supply chain.
