Stats Guidelines

STATISTICS COURSE INTRODUCTION
Overview
The Chicago School Industrial Organizational Psychology program’s statistics course is blended— your learning will occur both online and in the class room. We have designed the course to be completely I/O relevant to provide you with the opportunity to learn and practice skills you would use in a real-world HR or consulting situation.

Although the blended course format might take a little getting use to, you will find the environment quite compatible for learning.  Please read over the syllabus thoroughly to understand requirements.  Online classes require more discipline than face to face courses, because you have to login several times a week. They also provide advantages, such as flexibility to complete assignments when it is most convenient to you. Similarly, you can always check your grade online, because you’re the site immediately updates your grade after your submitted assignments are graded.

The online environment is designed to be formative – meaning that you will receive feedback from your instructor as much as you ask for it.  Instead of sitting in class listening to a lecture, your instructor will have lecture notes online. A significant portion of your learning will occur through peer-to-peer online discussions, as well as instructor feedback to these discussions.

Instead of being a passive learner in a classroom seat, you will take the responsibility for learning, practicing, monitoring your progress and following up with the instructor if you need more instruction.  In a face-to-face classroom, everyone has to move at the same pace.  Conversely, the online and blended format, allows more flexibility for each of you to move at your own pace.
