Thinking Critically Simulation

Many tools are available to find solutions in critical situations. We had a chance to come up with solutions for specific situations in the Thinking Critically Simulation. As we worked through the simulation individually, we were able to see similarities we faced in our Kava project. In the simulation, an electronics company was suffering a loss in sale due to another company opening up close by. The employee morale began to drop as well as sales. The company needed to find a solution to boost customer sales and keep the employees from leaving for better opportunities elsewhere. Evaluating the problem is the most important step. If management is not able to identify the purpose for the decline in sales or employee morale, the company will not do well and could possibly close. Once the manager find the most critical problems, he needs to find the most appropriate solution that will benefit the employee without losing money and boost sales to make money. The company also faces a lawsuit because of violating local disability access laws.
In the simulation brainstorming, cause-and-effect diagram, and mind mapping were demonstrated. These are all great tools and techniques to use while trying solve problems. In the beginning the problem was framed. Sales were falling for over 8 weeks and there were legal issues with city council. So the problem was well aware, objectives were pondered, and effects were evaluated. According to the simulation identifying cause of problem is part of solution setting which is also demonstrated within our problem in Kava. We observed many situations and tried our best to come up with possible solutions that could assist with making decisions. The same occurred during t ...
