Pharma Pharmaceuticals was the successor of Dricel Corporation, formed in 1985. Pharma became incorporated in 1993 and is headquartered in Miami, Florida. While it’s a global company, it mostly operates in the United States, Europe, and Latin America. It manufactures branded and generic pharmaceuticals as well as veterinary products.
Pharma is expanding its sales force, especially with regard to those dealing with respiratory medicines. Revenues in 2004 were $1837.4 million, a 22.3% increase from 2003, which had an 18.6% increase from 2002. Net income in 2004 was $198 million, an increase of 38.8% from 2003.
This past year, Pharma was acquired by Tetra Pharmaceutical Industries, headquartered in Israel, for $7.4 million. So far, Pharma is still operating independently and expects to continue to do so. Competitors of Pharma include Wyeth, Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, Johnson & Johnson, Merck & Co, Pfizer Inc, and GlaxoSmithKline.
Pharma Laboratories Inc. is a division of Pharma Corp. specializing in respiratory products. In 2002, a national sales force was created under Pharma Laboratories in order to support the newly acquired respiratory products. Since April of 2002, the market share of these products has increased by over 300 percent.
