Ryanair was the first budget airlines in Europe, founded by the Ryan’s family in 1985 which is based in Dublin, Ireland. It is one of the oldest and most successful low cost airlines in Europe as well as the first independent airlines in Ireland due to the deregulations of EU 1997. It was modelled on the most successful Southwest Airlines low cost low frills leadership model. Ryanair is part of the new breed of short haul, low cost, low frills carriers whereas British Airways is the national airline and flag carriers of the United Kingdom and one of the largest established airlines in Europe. It was formed in 1974 when the British Airways Group dissolved with BOAC and BEA. British Airways is a more traditional, long haul full service carrier.
