      Riordan manufacturing performs and annual employee survey each year and has never implemented any changes as a result of the survey. This year the founder and CEO of the company have been influenced by the Vice President of Research and Development who is concerned that key individuals from his department will leave due to an inadequate reward system.
      It is clear that the company needs to analyze the relationship between motivation and performance. The company needs to evaluate the different theories associated with expectancy and equity. Maslow’s theory suggests opportunities to motivate employees through different styles of management, job positions, company events, and compensation packages. (Netmba, Maslow) Factors that affect job dissatisfaction are company policy, supervision, work conditions, relationship with peers. (Netmba.com) Factors at lead to satisfaction are achievement, recognition, roles and accountability, development, and advancement. (Netmba Herzberg) The employee survey identifies the workforce is dissatisfied with how they are not valued by the company or its management.
