Research in Motion is a Canadian based company found in Waterloo, Ontario in 1984. RIM operates offices in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific.
Research in Motion is a company that has transformed the worldwide mobile communications market by designing, manufacturing and marketing innovative wireless solutions. They have preceded this through the development of integrated hardware, software and services that support multiple wireless network standards. RIM provides solutions for flawless access to time-sensitive information and this would include email, phone, text messaging, Internet and intranet-based applications.
RIM’s portfolio consists of many award-winning products, services and embedded technologies and are used world-wide. These would include the BlackBerry wireless solution, software development tools, and other software and hardware.
As for RIM’s financial state, their revenues are over 6 billion dollars, in US currency, as of March 1, 2008 with a 40% return of equity. RIM’s revenues have doubled since its last fiscal report in March 2007.

RIM’s common shares are listed on both the National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotation System Stock Market and the Toronto Stock Exchange. RIM’s main profit specialised stream is through Blackberry wireless solution. The BlackBerry wireless solution includes wireless devices, software and services which allows Internet browsing and full phone functionality on the user’s smartphone and is provided through a combination of RIM’s Network Operations Center and their carrier partners of wireless networks.
