The regions around Central America are comprised of seven small but developing countries.  These countries have a population around 32 million and with the past conflicts in these regions have left an estimated 250,000 people dead or missing as well as millions of dollars in damages or losses to the economy.  Challenges that face the countries in Central America are the decision-making, decision follow up, coordination, implementation of regional agreements, communication, and the opportunity for inner workings within Central America.  Central American countries have recently attempted economical, social, cultural and ecological integration through an Integration system.  Countries from all over Central America are trying to improve the regions competitiveness by joining all the involved countries.  With a larger economical backing from all the countries, the businesses will become more profitable and allow for more opportunities in the free trade market.

Central America has the worst income disparity with half of the population living below the poverty level and a quarter of the Central America population is illiterate.  The infrastructure is in ruin and the Central American schools are under funded, and have the lowest completion rates in Latin America.  With the increase in technology, some countries have had to band together to try to increase trade (Calvo, N.D.).  By joining, these countries have been able to use the free trade agreements and become competitive in the superior markets.  The Dominican Republic-Central America-United States Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA-DR) was established to help the smaller countries such ...
