At first my approach to the selection was negative. I figured since it had to do with business, it would be dull and boring. As I started reading the selection my approach became more positive. I actually found it rather interesting and informative. The selection grabbed my attention and interest. The way that it was written was very easy to understand and straight to the point. The setting that I read in was very quiet, which helped me have a better understanding of what I was reading. I babysit a nine month old and have two puppies. When the baby fell asleep, I turned off the TV. Luckily, the puppies had fallen asleep as well. My husband was at work and I put my phone on silent, so there were no distractions. After reading the selection I thought about which of the four reading purposes I should apply. I chose the third reading purpose: Read for Practical Application. I chose this purpose because; I want to have my own psychology business. I could apply the tips from the selection, when I, myself, will have to give business presentations.
I chose to look up the words listed under the Psychology Text of the Key 4.6 of the chapter 4 reading. The words listed are new to me and I will eventually have to learn them, so why not know.
