Problem Solution: Foundation Schools
Finding an easy solution to a problem is never easy. Formatting a solution to a problem takes a great deal of research. Foundation Schools is having some problems with the organizations new strategic plan and at present time the organization is trying to figure out how to meet the organizations goals. Foundation Schools is the largest provider of special needs education in the United States.
At present time each Foundation School campus employs a local director, clerical staff, teachers and teacher assistants who provide students with a 3:1 student/teacher ratio. Although the Foundations physical reach extends only to three California cities, all three schools are served by one eight-person Board of Directors and an executive director. The Board and executive director are responsible for the organizations funding, 90 % of which is tuition fees from the approximate 40 cities whose students attend the schools.
The Foundation administrators and staff are strongly dedicated to a life skills approach, and their success in teaching life skills has enabled many Foundation students to find jobs, and even live independently in group homes. Because of Foundation Schools most students now have independent lives as part of their community. Directors of other special needs schools request visitation for the purpose of observation and wisdom, and to subsequently to model their own schools on Foundationâ??s approach to learning and development. Other organizations have much to be learned from Foundation Schools.
