Problem Solution: Harrison-Keyes Inc.
Harrison-Keyes is in financial trouble and must do something to rectify the situation before the company loses so much of the market share that they cannot recover from it.  A number of areas need addressed by the executive team in order to implement successfully the planned e-books initiative.  Harrison-Keyes needs to align the company’s organizational strategy with the project management. “Project management can have strategic value when a clear connection is made between how efficiently and effectively a project is done and how the project’s products and services provide value to the business” (Jugdev, 2005, p. 1). This paper will attempt to offer a solution to the problem that Harrison-Keyes is facing.
Describe the Situation
Issue and Opportunity Identification
Harrison-Keyes faced many issues when trying to implement the new e-publishing initiative.  The project was not properly aligned with the corporate strategy which caused ripples throughout the organization.  By not having all the members of the executive team on board with the project before the implementation was attempted, it created a lack of proper commitment by all the necessary parties.  Recognizing different cultural beliefs, employment goals, and corporate goals before the company tried to implement the new initiative would have alleviated some of the issues and created an opportunity for success instead of creating a recipe for failure.
