Abstract
A company’s success can be determined by one thing— their ability to change. Some changes are easy to adapt but many fears arise with in an organization when the words “new ownership” are mentioned. Many questions arise and without the proper management skills; a company could lose valuable employees to a bunch of rumors. Throughout this essay I will explore the issues that managers need to address in order to prepare their employees for the upcoming change in ownership. I will be using a collaboration of referenced materials as well as my own personal experience as I am currently going through this type of change in my professional life.
 
Preparing Employees for Change
Managing change means managing people’s fear or the expectation of loss. Nothing has a greater potential to cause failure and a decrease in the quality of production, yet nothing is as important to the survival of an organization as change. Perhaps one of the most difficult issues that a manager may face is a change in ownership. The purpose of this research paper is to answer the question “how does an organization prepare its employees for a change in ownership?"
As a manager of a local upscale community country club, I have seen first hand the effects that the troubled housing market has had on our company. For the past few years we have downsized by over one thousand employees state wide, including four of my own staff. Our company is taking all of the necessary steps to ensure its long term survival during these troubled times.
