Power and Politics
The dependencies that exist for Michael Feldstein would be his family overall. Michael’s wife has already moved, and changed her job several times. His wife does not want to move the kids again, and start over at a new school and/or culture. I do not think the Michael’s colleagues are demonstrating illegitimate political behavior. I think everyone is being competitive, and they will have no boundaries to win. I think Michael should go to China, especially, that Pierre Hoffman (CEO) invited him to play golf, and offer him a career opportunity in China. Michael should take the career opportunity, because it might give him more opportunities if he does well in China. I think Michael should not take the job as the President of U.S. Operations, because I think he will succeed more in China with more career opportunities. If he does go to China, and does well the CEO’s realize he does well running his company without help of the CEO’s. He will eventually get transferred to Paris. I do not think Michael has much power in this situation. If the CEO’s do not want him to go to Paris right now they may not offer him the President of U.S. Operations job. He may be fighting for something that the CEO’s already know whom they are going to choose. Michael can improve his political edge by paying more attention what is going on at the office, and out-side of the office such as company parties, meetings, and the individuals that are certain groups hanging out.
