Political Environment

Abstract

The assignment requires us to analyze and discuss the impact of China’s political and social environment after it took over Hong Kong in 1997. Besides this the essay should address deeply into political and social environment which talks about trade regulations, price regulations, taxation, wage legislation, demographics, health, education, altitudes, and spending habits.
I have been researching on this topic for past few weeks. During all this I have looked up on the internet and browsed couple of websites which would help me to know about the topic completely. This assignment is the result of all the information I have gathered to accomplish the criteria required for this particular assignment.

Introduction

Hong Kong is China’s special administrative region (SAR). It is located on to the east of the Pearl River on the south coast of China. It comprises of Hong Kong islands, the southern part of the Kowloon Peninsula, Stonecutters Island, and 230 large and small offshore islands. The total population of Hong Kong is approximately 6,924,000 and the total area is 1,104 sq kilometer (km). The official languages are Chinese and English. It is known for its skyline and natural setting. It is one of the world's leading financial capitals and a major business and cultural hub. It is also known for its cuisine, cinemas, music and traditions.

Hong Kong came in being after the Treaty of Nanking was signed with Britain’s after the Qing Dynasty refused the Britain’s to bring in opium during the First Opium War.
