(The Quad sensor Project)
The case study highlights the contribution of negotiating and organizing skills of a project manager in the success of the project. It was indeed the experience of the project manager that map and created the desired container for the shipment of the industrial instrument. Dave Dogers, the project manager was given the project of setting a production system for an industrial instrument as well as he was supposed to design a particular type of container for shipment keeping in view the delicacy of the instrument. The basic challenge for the Dave was the creation of the shipment container as the firm’s containers department had never any previous experience of production of such a type of container. Therefore Dave was more concerned about the production of the desired type of container instead of setting up a production facility. Having clear identification of critical areas of the project Dave Dogers, asked Baturi Tab (manager of container Group) to assign that task to Jeff Gamm (container engineer) because of his competency in his field. At this stage Tab give Dave a confident consent that they will work out the desired task. More over the schedules of concerning the production department with view of container design aspects’ were decided and completion time was estimated. When seven months had been passed the project manager get alarmed by the news given by the production department engineer that Gamm has subtitued himself by McCutcheon who was just out of the school.
