Philosophy Of Education

I believe that education is an individual experience for every student who enters the classroom.  I think that a teacher must fully understand the importance of their job and that it should be considered a lifestyle, because a teacher's goals for his/her students encompass much more than relaying out-of-context facts to passive students.  As professionals and entrusted by the community with the education of young minds, teachers must facilitate learning and growth academically, personally, and ethically.  By providing a quality education to each individual in one's classroom, a teacher equips children with the tools necessary for success in life.  The ultimate goal is to help students develop skills to become fully functional citizens.
    I feel that it is important to establish a mutually respectful and an honest rapport with the students.  The teacher needs to build a relationship that is fair, democratic and one where the students feel safe and secure.  The teacher has to model appropriate behavior which allows them to see appropriate adult behaviors first-hand and begin to emulate them as they mature.  I feel that it is also important for the teacher to display warmth and compassion towards the students which will demonstrate that the teacher loves them and is empathic.  They need to have honest feelings from an honest person directly towards them as human beings.   
Finally, I believe that all children have the ability to learn and the right to a quality education. All youths, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, and capabilities should have the opportunity to learn from professional, highly qualified teachers who are sophisticated and knowledgeable, both in their area of expertise and life. ...
