DTI-NERBAC SEMINAR: ACTIVITY SUMMARY
The Management 138 section A students had their half day Business Registration Requirements and Other Tax Update seminar at the Department of Trade and Industry – NERBAC building last August 13 and 20 2008. The first seven students of the class attended the first schedule while the remaining students attended the other one. The purpose for such activity is to enrich the students’ knowledge on the processes involved in legalizing a business and to provide a clear overview of the essential steps of forming a business. Speakers from the different concerned agencies such as DTI, SSS, BIR, PAG-IBIG, PHILHEALTH, and the Cebu City government shared all the necessary information needed in putting up a business.
The seminar started at one o’clock in the afternoon. The first speaker was Mr. Maynard Soria from the DTI-NERBAC who gave us an overview of the activity and of the organization’s purpose and goals. Right after him was Mrs. Dinah Gladys Oro of the DTI. She discussed about the considerations in naming a business and the difference between corporate and business names. Next to her was Ms. Anette Clarisa the BIR representative who talked about the registration procedure, needed books of account and updated tax rates and payment procedures. She was followed by Ms. Pamela Taneo PhilHEalth who talked about the health benefits that should be given to employees under various situations. After him was Mr. Enrico Bernardo of the SSS who mentioned about the procedures in filing for SSS and other important things to remember when dealing with the SSS.
