Introduction
Organizations are a part of our everyday life. From the time we wake up till the time we go to sleep, we are constantly involved in multiple organizations. The success of organizations depends on how well we understand them. This paper will include the distinctions between public and private organizations, the development of public management, fundamental roles of government, functions of government and bureaucracy.
Organizations and Administration
Organizations are structured groups of people who are leaders, staff, line, and functional units for both public and private sectors. One key part that an organization requires in order to help them operate is people (Shafritz, Ott, Jang, 2005, p.146). They have shared goals and objectives, definable functions, and serve a purpose, process, locale, or client group. Although the two groups have several similarities and differences but one common similarity is administration. Administration is responsible for people interacting, cooperating, and collaborating with others in order to accomplish certain task to attain commonly shared goals and objectives. Some factors for public administration to help deal with and confront are complex issues that society is faced with, also known as wicked problems (Cayer & Weschler, 2003, p.3). For example, they are trying to solve poverty, crime, and education. Where as the private organization tend to move toward the organization than toward people. Their concerns seem more interested in what is best for the organization rather than the people. In order to manage any criminal justice organization there must be an administration department.
