Abstract
Wearing a uniform is supposed to promote unity and uniformity, but how does an organization unite and uniform behaviors? Each individual is unique and reacts differently, how does a manager use this reaction to benefit the organization?
Intro
Understanding that individuals react differently to each situation differently is a key concept in understanding organizational behavior and learning to apply it effectively. An effective manager will be able to use the diversity of an organization to gain a competitive edge.
Organizational Behavior and Culture
The study of how people (individuals and groups) act in organizations is organizational behavior (OB). It focuses on the acquisition, development and the application of the knowledge and skills of people (Hitt, Miller & Colella, 2006). OB is meant to enhance the culture of the organization. The culture of the organization deals with the attitudes, experiences, and values of the organization. Acquiring knowledgeable people can be the fundamental step in the OB process. It depends on the goals and objectives of the organization as to what qualifies as being knowledgeable. The development is the training provided by an organization. Every organization has its own processes. In order to be effective, these processes must be learned and universal within the organization. After training, individuals need to be placed in positions that will allow their skills and knowledge to be the most effective.
