Abstract
The Walt Disney Company has grown and survived through management changes, worker strikes, changes in technology, disasters both natural and man-made, and even the death of its creator and inspirational leader. In this paper, we will research the various organizational issues and trends which Disney has recognized and to which they have adapted to survive and stay a leader in the entertainment and corporate worlds. Our goal is to show the reader that, while some situations are inevitable, with proper preparation and adaptability, any company can use Disney as an example of how to handle the ever-changing challenges ahead.
Organizational Issues and Trends
For a company to survive and thrive, it must be ready to meet the challenges, foreseen and unforeseen, that affect the day-to-day workings of its business. Internal issues, such as stress management and organizational behavior, or external issues, such as global competition and evolutionary trends in business, must be considered and controlled for a company to be able to meet the challenges and prosper. The Walt Disney Company has grown over the past decades because of its unique ability to recognize trends and fold them into the daily business of the company, while also quickly adapting to unforeseen circumstances and using those situations to learn and continue to evolve.
