ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR

   The whole idea of organizational behavior deals with the study of what people do in an organization and how that behavior can impact the organization that they work are a part of.

 In the pages that follow we will take an insightful gander at the personal system as an important indicator of human needs. We begin by providing an overall plan that shows where the personal system fits into the total order of events that determine the behavior of an individual.

 While the personal system is only one facet in this sequence, it is the most complex one and carries the key to understanding individual behavior and personality in a group setting. It is that critical link to understanding a person's expectations regarding his or her actions in a given situation; the expectations are then the immediate precursors to actions.

INTRODUCTION

   For most of us, our occupational success will be largely as a result of our talents in understanding and influencing human behavior. This is because most of what you will be doing is forming the behavior of others. As you can see below, a typical manager spends little of his or her time in what we think of as management activities. Most of the time is spent in working with and around people. In fact they could refer to the job objectives as People Managing. This entails small but equal parts of psychology and sociology.

   Thus your people skills will probably be the most important that you can develop. You will have to be a skillful psychologist and sociologist. This is true whether or not you are a manager, but it is especially true if you are. ...
