Organizational Behavior Terminology Concepts

Today’s market is constantly changing and in order for an organization to maintain competitive edge there are some key concepts to follow.  Organizational culture and behavior, diversity, communication, business ethics, and change management are just some of the concepts.  Each of these concepts plays a major role in the growth of an organization.  Applying these concepts to daily functions in the workplace can help an organization to achieve goals and objectives.  In doing so, I plan to show the observable aspects of each these concepts.  I also plan to show how culture and behavior relate to working within the spa industry.
Organizational culture and behavior
Organizational culture can be defined as, “the set of shared values, beliefs, and norms that influence the way employees think, feel, and behave toward each other and toward people outside the organization,” (George & Jones, p. 535).  Culture is an important aspect of an organization because it has a great influence on the employees.  Maintaining a healthy organizational culture motivates employees and gives them the drive to deliver quality work performance.  Employees can also learn  how to effectively work together within an organization, “an organization’s culture controls the way employees perceive and respond to their environment, what they do with information, and how they make decisions,” (George & Jones, 535).  “The study of the many factors that have an impact on how people and groups act, think, feel, and respond to work and organizations and how organizations respond to their environments,” is known as organizational behavior (George & Jones, 4).  Working in different ...
