NASPERS, THE SOUTH AFRICAN MEDIA GROUP
The presentation is about Naspers, the South African media group. The purpose is to show the structure, the operations and the strategy of the company during a conference. I am the General Manager of the company and I will explain the main issues of the group.
In particular, I want to highlight the incredible evolution of this media company, its winning strategy based on diversification and on growing markets such as Brazil, China, Russia, India and South Africa. Finally I want to stress the importance of its recent acquisition of Tradus, through which it has entered the Eastern Europe too.
The presentation will be performed in an important Hotel in Chicago, during the conference about “The growing importance of Multinational African companies”. Different African companies will present themselves and they will stress their winning strategies speaking in turn from the podium. The aim of the conference is to promote the managerial capabilities of these companies often undervalued and the way in which they became international. The conference will last one hour, but each speaker will talk for about 10 minutes.
The audience will be composed by various international managers of African multinational companies, by invited managers of other important multinational groups and by journalists. The majority of the audience is not aware of Naspers’ experience but in general has an in depth-knowledge of managerial decisions. For this reason it is interested in its strategy.
