IT Initial Pre self-analysis
Information technology by definition from Information Technology Association of America (ITAA) is “the study, design, development, implementation, support or management of computer-based information systems, particularly software applications and computer hardware.” Basically information technology deals with the use of computers and computer software to convert, store, protect, process, transmit and securely retrieve information.
Nowadays the term information technology encompasses many aspects of computing and technology and the term IT itself became very recognizable. Because of the impossibility to cover even the major sections of the information technology on this paper I will try to look at the availability of IT in business as it is my field of study.
In Today’s dynamic business world, IT has become ubiquitous, essential for many of the companies operations. Other that the smallest of business no company could today keep track of accounts, transactions, customer information, payroll etc. Entirely new, more complex and more efficient business models have been made possible by new IT capabilities. Having built their business models around IT capabilities, companies are heavily reliant on it. For many, a technological failure is not just a nuisance; it costs a lot of money in terms of lost business.
