Caterpillar would like to share the secrets of its software being used in their multimillion-dollar business while cutting time in half of multitasking in a busy day of any business. To tell you about a few of these automation software that they use, first the central application in which cat use is the Dealer Business System (DBS). This application serves many purposes for the manager along with employees. Employees use this application to enter their time into the computer which is then sent to Human Resource each week for payroll checks to be distributed on time. Through doing this there are positive advantages and for disadvantages, myself have never seen any, for example, each employee has their own employee ID number and enters it into the app and clicks there time upon arrival and departure from work, thus causing no mistakes to their paycheck each week. Within the DBS application, data entry for pre ship of equipment can also be entered into the system. For example, if the ft worth store needs a backhoe the manager or one of the counter men/women will go into DBS and pull up any other location in the Cat data base to see if they have one that is not on being used. If the machine needed is available at another location, next all they have to do is put a reservation on the machine in question for ft worth store by the stores number and this lets that store know that the machine is needed there.
