Our organization, InterClean Inc. has been battling with competitors for a share of the marketplace and needs to find ways to increase our global presence. The recent merger with Envirotech will provide us with the opportunity to become a full service operation. With the recent announcement of this merger, communication issues between management and employees has began which has resulted in low employee morale. In order to achieve success and establish positive end results, the company has many steps and challenges to organize internally between every team. The changes that have been implemented have brought about opportunities for new career paths for the existing company sales members. This has created apparent resistance to the company’s new change, evident by declining employee morale (University of Phoenix, 2007).
Resistance to change is normal when companies change strategies to prepare for the future. A common solution that may assist our organization in helping the process run smoothly, the management team must learn ways to keep our employees focused and concentrating on the mission and goals of the recent changes. In order to overcome the resistance to the recent changes InterClean is enduring with the EnviroTech merger, our management team should attempt to change the behavior of the employees by holding workshops, training sessions, and motivational rallies. Management must emphasize and reinforce new behaviors in order to convince employees to embrace the changes.
