Team Analysis - Introduction
This is the first course in the University of Phoenix MBA program "Foundations of Problem Based Learning." The course is designed to act as a transition phase, where we are lead to start thinking in more in-depth and analytical methods. The goal is to think more strategically in terms of communication skills, negotiation skills, critical thinking, and analysis, personal and organizational values, stakeholder's views, and social responsibilities.
Based on the investigated example "Global Communications (GC) Scenario," all team members have managed to search for two companies that in one way or another have similarities in the situation that was facing GC. The similarities were highlighted in the compare and contrast section. All businesses evaluated were consumer oriented, facing fierce competition, servicing global markets, with cultural diversity. All companies researched are leaders or major participants in their industries.
After reviewing our individual companies, it is apparent the roles ethics, communication, emotional intelligence, cultural education, organizational commitment, and adaptability play in achieving success. Our team analysis demonstrates many of the positive outcomes achieved by employing the techniques listed above. For example, successful and profitable outsourcing can be achieved with appropriate training to overseas employees, and that strategic alliances do work and support growth. A lesson learned from the Dell analysis is that it pays to outsource; however, to be successful, close attention must be paid to ensuring excellent customer service is provided to retain and attract customers.
