Management was implemented to be a problem-solving technique. With management there are four functions that are vital to keep a company or business going.  The objective of these functions is to utilize resources available to the company, so the company’s mission and policies can be adhered to in the best way possible. The four functions of management are planning, organize, lead and control. Whether a company is big or small these functions serve a specific purpose. The purpose is to maintain an efficient work environment.

    Planning lays the foundation for management. This is the area that all management should be built upon. Planning also involves an ongoing process for attaining the goals of the business. There are a few key factors when implementing this function. The manager has to decide what the future goals are for the business also, develop a business plan as to how are these goals going to be accomplished, all businesses need one. Without a realistic view on how the business will be ran it’s destined to fail if no plans are in place.
