Delegation
Delegation is defined as the process of working with and through others to get a particular task accomplished. According to Broshar (1988), "Effective delegation can be seen as by having two critical questions and five distinctive phases" (p. 1). Who are the delegated parties? What task is delegated to which party? Each phase consist of preparation, planning, discussion, audit, and delegation. In this paper we will discuss each function of the delegation process.

When delegating responsibilities the manager should then familiarize themselves with the strengths and weaknesses of everyone involved. In doing so this will determine what responsibilities should be delegated to whom. In assuring completion of all tasks, it is necessary to make sure everyone had the proper materials to do what needs to be done. With delegation, everyone has the authority to react to situations without referring back to the manager. Without delegation the value of skills and knowledge are lost among the team.
