Management Paper

Management can be described as the process of working with individuals and resources to accomplish an organizational goal.  Being effective and efficient are key qualities of being a good manager. Research shows there are four elements of management functioning, those elements are controlling, leading, planning and organizing.  A typical day of a manager is not compacted into these four functions, managers deal with many situations on all different levels.  Research states that the manager who does not give attention to the four functions will not be considered an effective or affective manager.  A manager can be a skilled planner and controller, but if you organize your people improperly or fail to inspire them to perform at high levels, you will not be an effective manager.   There is no point in being the kind of manager who loves to organize and leader, but who doesn’t really understand where to go or how to determine whether you are on the right track.  Effective good managers don’t neglect any of the four management functions (Bateman, Snell, 2004; p15-17).
Continuous quality improvements means different things to different people it can be described as a management philosophy which contends that most things can be improved it’s a process of identifying, describing, and analyzing strengths and problems. It’s a process that test, implements, learning from and revising solutions to an organization. This philosophy does not subscribe to the theories that “if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it."
