THE LEGACY OF DEHAYA AL-KALBI

Dehaya Al-Kalbi was the companion of our dearly Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. Back in the prophethood times, Dehaya Al-Kalbi was said to be one of the most attractive and handsome companion of the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w.
      Once a hadith narrated by Ibn Rabah stated that, everywhere he went, everyone would be amazed with his looks.[1] Dehaya Al-Kalbi was famous among his people until his name was derived from the city that he lived in last time. The city was known as Dalha or Delhah.
      Besides that, Dehaya Al-Kalbi is characterized to be a great person and also a good person to the eyes of Allah s.w.t. This was because, history stated that there was a time when the Angel of Allah s.w.t, Gabriel came down to earth to greet the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. in the form of a human being that looked similar to Dehaya Al-Kalbi.
      According to Lady 'A'ishah, the Prophet's wife, he saw Jibril twice “in the shape that he was created” and on other occasions as a man resembling Dehayah Al-Kalbi, an extraordinarily handsome disciple of Muhammad.[2]
      Dehaya Al-Kalbi was not just known for his good looks but also as a believer of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. He became a diplomat between the Messenger of Allah s.w.t and also The Eastern Roman Emperor Heraclius. According to Imam Bukhari and many other scholars of hadiths in a historical report, it was mentioned that, after the Hudaibiyah agreement, our beloved Prophet s.a.w sent letters throughtout the country and also neighbouring chiefs and leaders to embrace Islam. He sent Dehaya Al-Kalbi with a letter addressed to Heraclius.[3] Dehaya Al-Kalbi sent the letter to the Governor of Busra[ ...
