Kuiper Leda has been faced with a vast increase in their goods. The demand of the goods has proven to Kuiper Leda the ineffectiveness of the current supply chain management system. Supply chain management is vital to Kuiper Leda, as it will prove to maintain low cost levels, and will increase customer delight.
Issue: Kuiper Leda has recognized a definite issue exists in the current processes of supply chain management. The organization has been producing electronic component unit (ECU’s) for a small customer base for the past 10 years. The current production allows for Kuiper Leda successfully to produce only 1,250 ECU’s and 250 radio frequency identification tags (RFID’s) comfortably. An issue with Kuiper continuing to deliver quality products in a timely manner on larger orders currently exists. Midland Motors, a larger distribution company employing Kuiper for a large order, is not confident Kuiper Leda will be able to deliver the goods in a timely manner, with their known quality in a timely manner, as the quantity needed is more than Kuiper Leda normally produces on a daily basis.
