Efficient supply chain management has transformed from simply being a competitive advantage to a competitive imperative. In order to create an effective supply chain management system, an understanding of the various interactions between suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, and customers is necessary. Further, organizations, especially those that have relationships within a supply chain, must work together to establish a committed contractual relationship. Ultimately organizational synergies with customers and the supply chain partners will provide opportunities for success and increase shareholder wealth. “The industry leaders have made on thing clear: The payoffs from successful supply chain integration can be handsome indeed” (Lee, 2000, p. 30). This paper will attempt to educate the reader on the importance of supply chain management through the identification of best practices, a specific review of Kuiper Leda, Inc. (KLI) practices in place and how those practices can be more optimal. Through an optimal solution, KLI can reduce costs, minimize wastes, and maximize value.
