Supply Chain Efficiency
The power of having an efficient supply chain is more important today than ever. As companies strive for competitive advantage, they look to the efficacy of their supply chain management in order to move ahead of their competition. Kuiper Leda Inc. has been in operation for over 10 years and specializes in production of Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and microchip sensors for the automotive industry. Recently, Kuiper Leda has entered into the production of Radio Frequency Identification Devices (RFIDs) and has a new RFID line that has been in operation for the past six months. Kuiper Leda currently faces various growth opportunities. However, the company has not implemented effective supply chain practices in place to manage its supply chain process. Companies can identify domestic and global best practices by assessing existing efficient supply chain management strategies. Evaluating opportunities for improving operations becomes imperative and analyzing ethical issues among supply chain stakeholders a must. “It is important for managers to realize that how they run items using inventory control logic relates directly to the financial performance of the firm” (Chase et al, 2005, p. 605).
The supply chain process must be well thought out with a logistical design that meets the changing marketplace and worldwide distribution channels.
