Any organizational performance depends on management and its resources. In any successful organization people are managed wisely and resources are used efficiently. Kudler fine foods are a premiere gourmet grocery store which serves finest meats, produce, cheeses and wine. Kudler was established and managed by Kathy Kudler with a vision of her own gourmet food store. Kathy opened her first store, followed with second and recently a third.
According to the management theory primary functions of management are planning and strategizing, organizing, leading and controlling(Gomez & Balkin.) A successful manager is one who perform managerial functions successfully. Planning and strategizing are designed to lead the company to fulfill its mission. Planning includes setting future objectives and mapping out the activities necessary to achieve those objectives. It involves continous assessment of firms strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, so the appropriate strategies may be taken. At Kudler, the planning and strategies were taken by Kathy.
Organizing is the second function in set of primary functions of management. Specifying how the firm’s human, financial, physical, informational and technical resources are to be arranged and coordinated is the process of organizing. This includes defining roles for all the players, delegating tasks, marshalling and allocation resources, clarifying procedures and determining priorities.
