INTRODUCTION
Knowledge Management of an organisation in layman terms is the activities focused by the organization in gaining and maintaining the knowledge from its own experience, intellect and from the experience of others. This knowledge that can be maintained, upon its judicious application, helps to achieve or fulfill the mission of an organization. These activities can be executed by a proportionate mix of technology, organizational structures, and strategies that will help to transform the existing knowledge into a new knowledge. Most important thing in this task is to update the cognitive system i.e. organization, human, computer, or joint human-computer system in order to acquire, store and utilize the knowledge for learning, problem solving, and decision making. KM success depends on not simply identifying the lessons, but actually implementing them on the next occasion (Wilson, 2002).
 We can find that now-a-days most of the organisations are developing their information systems that will encourage sharing and consolidation of knowledge.
In order to have a successful system in place, the organisations must focuses on the following;
•    This system must help them in facilitating informed decisions.
•    It must increase the intellectual property of the organisation.
•    Innovation and insight must be encouraged by this system.
•    Increase efficiency and customer satisfaction.
•    Better productivity
