      Highly effective organizations rely on the efficiency and productivity of high performance teams working together to achieve strategic business goals. Having a thorough understanding of the dynamics of teams—how they work together as a pool of diverse skills, knowledge, abilities, and personalities—will allow organizations to accomplish maximum effectiveness from their teams’ efforts.
    Kerzner Office Equipment (KOE), a manufacturer and retailer of high-end office furniture and equipment, is recognized as one of the 10 best local firms to work for in South Carolina. However, a recent layoff of about 300 employees adversely affected the morale of the organization (Gray & Larson, 2005, p. 374). The recently hired CEO, focused on turning the organization around, decided to make its upcoming 10th anniversary into a big company-wide event to boost employee morale and strengthen corporate values.  With that purpose, he appointed Amber Briggs, a human resource specialist, to carry out the planning and execution of the celebration. A task force of 14 employees from different departments was assigned to contribute to this project. Ms. Briggs has the major responsibility of converting this group of people into a high performance team in order to take this project to a successful completion.
