Islam paper

Islam is a religion from Mohammed. Islam means “submission” which means you should give yourself totally to god.  Followers of Islam are called Muslims which means “one who submits to god.” Islam has become the second largest religion following Christianity which is still the reigning champ!
    Muslims believe that God gave Mohammed the Qur’an through the angel Gabriel. Islam says that Mohammed is the final prophet from god, having followed the first few. Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and some others came before him. Muslims believe that those prophets distorted the religion and didn’t give the full truth by altering the text, giving a false interpretation of the religion.
    In the customs of the religion, Islam, follows the Five Pillars. The five pillars is a set of five practices that the Sunni Muslims practice, and the Shi'a Muslims have a system of eight rituals that overlap and are very closely related to the five pillars. The Shahadah is the first of the five pillars. This is the basic foundation for everything else in the religion. It states that they will only worship one god and that Mohammad is the messenger of god. Salah is the second of the five pillars. It is a ritual prayer that must be done five times a day. It is recited in Arabic and it is verses from the Qur’an. The prayer is to be done facing the Kaaba in Mecca. The prayer is intended to focus the mind and be a personal contact with god. There is some flexibility about the times that you do it though. In Muslim countries the mosques will alert people at the proper time when to pray.
