What I Learned and How I Apply It
When I entered this class I had some basic knowledge of Microsoft Word. I knew how to customize the fonts and add pictures. I was truly impressed on how much more the MS Word program offered. In this final paper I will summarize the skills I have learned and explain how I apply them to my current workplace.
My current workplace is at an orthopedic office. I am responsible for arranging staff meetings, sending out letters to patients, creating fax cover sheets, and modifying the layouts of the forms our patients need to fill out. As you can imagine, I have greatly improved in all of these areas based on what I have learned in this class.
When modifying the forms that are given to the patients to fill out, I have been able to create a table listing any health history issues, rather than making the patient list all of them themselves. This makes it much easier for the patients, and also assures that all information is included. When it is completed it looks neat and professional. It is easier for the patients to fill out, and easier for the doctors to read.
When sending letters to the patients, I now use the templates, rather than trying to make the letter look nice on my own. Being able to save one letter, and just change the name and address by using form fields has made this much more efficient. Although I do not create address labels, I know I could if asked.
Creating fax cover sheets has become a fairly easy task. I can now setup the sheet to have all the information needed. I can pull up the form in MS Word, and fill in the recipients name and fax number. I can then print and fax. I no longer have to hand -write this information in. It is easier to read and more professional.
