Ladies and Gentlemen.
It is my pleasure to welcome you all to this historic occasion. I am particularly delighted to witness today the fulfillment of vision. The idea to train the members of Nigeria Police, on computer applications and utilisation, was conceived five years ago at the entrance gate of the Police Staff College, Jos. To facilitate this, a special scheme tagged National Computer Mass Literacy Programme (NCMLP) was immediately set up by our organisation with the following objectives:
i. to work in conjunction with authority of Nigeria Police at the State Command level by assisting them in setting up computer based information management/training centres (NCMLP Centres) and equipping these centres with computers and other computing devices;
ii. to provide a training support at all level to the members of the Nigeria Police;
iii. to develop standard and easy-to-understand study books on areas of computer applications/operations, computer related crimes, investigations, electronic evidence processing and preservation, etc for law enforcement agencies in Nigeria; and
iv. to help in maintaining the computer supplied through this scheme.
