Introduction
The ERP system can be seen as an organisational actor in its own right as it to a large extent influences values, culture, behaviour, processes and procedures of other actors in the organisation. Given the complexity, size and organisational embeddedness of ERP systems, it can be said that the implementation project never ends and the ERP system becomes a significant variable in the future direction of the organisation Rikhardsson and Kraemmergaard (2007)
It is a system that supports enterprise-wide or cross-functional requirements, rather than a single department or group within the organization. In today’s business world, virtually every major business organisation has implemented at least one ES (ERP)
The continued instability and intense competitive market environment which was brought about by the globalisation, information/knowledge intensity and computer networking and connectivity now necessitate that an organisation that wished to survive for a long time and remained profitable, should integrate al their business units in order to manage them more efficiently for a quicker service delivery, and cost reduction which will eventually give the company a competitive advantage.
The process of integration can be effected through the implementation of an enterprise system, the purpose of which this report was prepared.
