In China, opening to the outside world in all aspects, it has greater change than before“ Global village”  is  becoming  smaller and smaller. Under this kind of background, cross-culture communication is becoming even more frequent and important. But to understand people whose cultural background is different from your own is not an easy thing. Cultural diversity has the potential to make cross-cultural communication very difficult. I will talk about this problem from 3 aspects.
1. Self –centre VS Sacrifice

Generally, the western people attach much more importance to the benefits than the friendship just showing the realism of western cultural. From the history of violating the china in 19 century and their life-style, we can observe clearly that the self-centre of Westerners. However, for the Chinese, both the benefit and friendship are identical important, even they would rather sacrifice some benefit to maintain the friendship.
2. Pioneering spirit and Medium way

Due to the 5000 years long history of china, the Chinese people always emphasize the  peacefulness, they  think that the most safe way to live in current society is to follow the golden mean. But the western people used to be innovated putting forward pioneering and new ideas. For example, when the Chinese be asked what do they want to have for dinner as they go to visit their friends, they often answer “whatever” but the western people definitely to state clearly what they really want to taste tonight!
3. Straightforward speaking and Roundabout expression
